imho mydomain.com is the best place to reserach domain registrations.
(they use a third party toolkit I think - I don't know native URL).
Also IMHO - there is nothing wrong with owning and using your domain. If they believe there is a trademark issue - they have their recourse available.
Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
